I Fell In Love With Parisian

For our first group project, we had to design a website around a typeface. We all agreed on Parisian. An elegant typeface with strong Art Deco influences. For me, I’m usually stuck using Futura, Helvetica, Avant Garde, or any of those Modern San-Serif.

When it comes to designing, I must admit that working in a team-based environment is my weakness. I have this “My way or the highway” attitude. Fortunately, I was teamed up with some pretty creative people; and as a group, we were able to come up with a concept that we probably couldn’t have figured out ourselves. Here’s what I got going so far…

The concept behind us presenting the Parisian typeface is actually to see it used. We’re getting lot of influences from artwork during the Art Deco Movement. A.M. Cassandre has been a strong inspiration for me right out of the gate. I love the soft noir look of it , reminicent of something you can probably see in the 1920′s or 1930′s. The illustration with a rollover image revealing the red anchor being the point of interest (and the link to the next page). I need to figure out how to display the information.  So much fun…

seeing how the typeface is used in its surrounding environment is the way to go… the SMART way. haha
