Probably not a new idea however, not something I’ve seen before. I was sitting at the dining table eating breakfast this morning going through the newspaper. (I had to re-read that sentence. I can’t believe I was going through the newspaper!) I digress. I ran through a grocery inserts for the local Fresh & Easy looking at some of the prices for meats and vegetables. I think I might be using my iPhone too much, but I wish I could just touch the item of interest on paper and immediately see the nutritional facts or ingredients for that particular product. Impossible on paper, I know, but maybe on-line? Grocery shopping online – not unheard of?
What about immediate contextual information based on what you wrote on a digital interface? Presenting contextual information that is not intrusive would be a priority.
EDIT: My friend Sara and I had a brief chat about the idea, since she was too lazy to read my blog posting. This is the enlightening exchange and this is how great ideas are born!!!!
Sara: hey what was your recent blog about? something about nutrition facts or shopping onilne? hahah
Me: no
Sara: i didnt read it
Me: like ads on paper
i wish i could touch the product
and see the facts
hahaha
i was looking at this fresh and easy grocery ad
those weekly ones y’know?
w/ coupons and stuff
Sara: yeah
Me: and i wanted to know if it was healthy
and i wish it could tell me
so i thought that would be a cool idea
Sara: oh so if you could like hover over the product and then view nutrition facts or something?
Me: yeah i guess
but to have that on a medium like paper
or ePaper?
has to be digital obviously
so maybe in a few years
they can look back and find my blog and say i was a pioneer
Sara: whats epaper
Me: haha
i don’t know
i made it up
hahaha
Sara: hahahah
wtf
it makes no sense
Me: like flexible screens using oleds
it’s super expensive now
but if for some reason if it became cheap
Sara: it will eventually
Me: or if those ebook readers became a platform for all mail and ads
OOHHH
imagine all mail going to one device
hmmm
that’s pretty much e-mail.
lol
Sara: hahaahahahha
Me: nm
a mail dedicated device
that’s 8×11 digital tablet
that sits in the kitchen
and all mail get sent there
super thin
and that would be it’s only purpose
you think that would work?
Sara: no
unless it was like
Me: i see myself using it
Sara: on your fridge
Me: why?
something you can carry around the house
and read while ur taking a dump right?
Sara: because everyone looks at the fridge
Me: has to be super light
Sara: thats what magazines are for
hahahaah
Me: no more magazines
Sara: wtf
Me: it’s on this device as well
Sara: no
Me: hahaha
Sara: i would hate it everything was digitized
theres something about having it in your hands thats just not the same
print i mean
Me: yeah true
but environmentally friendly
it has potential
Sara: how about we just st op printing shitty things
haaha
that’s environmentally friendly
Me: if the digital device has a paper like qualities…
a paper textured screen
ooooo
Sara: i dont know
Me: and on the other side it’s glossy
if you prefer that
Sara: i still can’t just tear it out and pin it to my inspiration board
Me: hmmm
how about a big digital board
that you can send images from the small device
and it fits in with my contextual information idea!!!
oh man…
Sara: haha
suuuure
whatever you say
you were a pioneer van
a true pioneer
Me: i’m posting this chat for idea 4 i think
so i don’t forget.
END OF CHAT
I never realized that I chat in very
fragmented
sentences…
