The Soundtrack of Summer

By Van in Life, Music

My fondest memories of summer consist of me simply driving along the pacific coast or on a road I’ve never been on before, in true Californian-Americana style. I don’t mind these long drives with just me and my music. I vividly remember Rooney coaxing me through a bad breakup and one of the most trying summers of my life. A few summers later, Jack Johnson would play during my slow and lazy, yet peacefully harmonious days. Rooney’s debut album and Jack Johnson’s “In Between Dreams” weren’t just albums with one or two hit singles. I could sit down and listen through the whole CD from beginning to end. I can’t say that about a lot of music these days.

At Coachella, I was introduced to Temper Trap. It was the first set I was able to catch that day. Coachella is highly regarded as the beginning of the summer musical festival season and for me, listening to Temper Trap was the official start of my summer. It’s been nearly a month since Coachella, but I’ve absolutely fallen for their album “Conditions.” Ten amazing tracks from beginning to end. They were amazing live and they are amazing blasting through the speakers of my car. My favorite track on the album…
