The Future of The Book

IDEO just released a video presenting their vision for the future of the written word. What does the future hold for the book? I have to say, they present some very interesting concepts and ideas. Many of the solutions already exist, but the concept behind unifying all these technologies behind the book brings new uncharted experiences. Most notable are the interactions between the reader and book. Getting a text message from a character in a book when you reach a certain part of the story sounds like an amazingly immersive idea! (Twilight fans rejoice.) They introduce interesting game mechanics that challenge the reader to perform certain actions to unlock parts of a story. Watch the video and let me know what you think!
