The Music and The Man

Sometimes, hours are wasted on YouTube. Luckily for me, this is not one of those times. I was fortunate to come upon this treasure. The premise of the video is fairly simple. A guy goes around the city asking people wearing headphones what they are listening to. He overlays the music over the person walking by. What proceeds is an interesting narrative about the person and the music. Why are they listening to that particular song? What does it say about them and their personality? Did the song just happen to be on shuffle? Why is that jogger learning Japanese?

There was a particular person who really piqued my interest. At the 1:25 mark, a middle-aged man is walking across the bridge. He is well-dress with a leather jacket thrown over his right shoulder and a lit cigarette on his left hand. He strolls leisurely. He is the epitome and very definition of the word “cool”. He reveals the song he is listening to…. Yeah. he’s cool and I probably wouldn’t want to mess with him. He seems like a man on a mission.
